Restore Flow and Prevent Plumbing Problems

What is a Rodding Service?

Sewer & drain rodding is a process where a flexible metal cable, called a snake or auger, is inserted into the clogged pipe. The technician rotates the cable, which has a cutting head or blade at the tip, to break up and dislodge the blockage. As the cable is pushed further into the pipe, it clears the obstruction, allowing water and waste to flow freely again.

Signs that indicate a pipe may need Rodding include:

  • Persistent Clogs: If plunging and drain cleaners aren't working, it could indicate a deeper blockage requiring rodding.
  • Slow Drains: If water is draining slowly or pooling in sinks, showers, or tubs, it could be a sign of a partial blockage.
  • Gurgling Sounds: Gurgling noises from drains can indicate trapped air caused by a blockage in the pipes.
  • Foul Odors: Unpleasant smells coming from drains may be a sign of a buildup of debris and bacteria in the pipes, which rodding can help remove.
  • Sewage Backup: If sewage is backing up into your home, it's a serious issue that likely requires professional rodding services.
  • Root Intrusions: Tree roots can wreak havoc on sewer lines. Rodding removes root masses and prevents further damage.

Benefits of Rodding:

  • Efficient Blockage Removal: Rodding quickly clears blockages, restoring proper flow and preventing backups.
  • Damage Prevention: Addressing clogs with rodding helps prevent pipe damage and costly repairs.
  • Maintained Flow: Rodding ensures smooth water and waste flow, reducing drainage issues.
  • Extended Pipe Lifespan: Keeping your pipes clear through rodding can extend their lifespan and prevent premature deterioration.

Schedule Rodding as part of your plumbing maintenance to prevent major blockages.

The recommended frequency for rodding your pipes depends on several factors, such as the age of your plumbing system, the number of trees near your property, and your household's water usage. However, as a general guideline, it's a good idea to schedule rodding service every 1 to 2 years as part of your preventative maintenance routine. This can help prevent major blockages, address minor issues before they escalate, and ensure the optimal performance and longevity of your plumbing system.

Rodding vs. Hydro Jetting: Which is Right for You?

The main difference between rodding and hydro jetting lies in their cleaning methods and intensity. Rodding involves using a flexible rod to physically dislodge and break up clogs, while hydrojetting utilizes high-pressure water to scour the pipe walls and remove debris, grease, and mineral deposits. Rodding is often effective for many common blockages, but hydro jetting offers a more thorough cleaning and is better suited for extensive buildup, grease, or recurring clogs.  Generally, rodding services tend to be less expensive than hydro jetting services. However, it's important to consult with a professional to obtain an accurate estimate and determine the best option for your specific needs.

Don't let stubborn clogs and backups disrupt your life.
